Feb. Half Term
As we break for half term, there are quite a few exhibitions around and about for us to have a look at.
If you are in the centre of Bury St. Edmunds there is the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2006 exhibition of work. There are 47 drawings by 43 artists, so plenty to have a look at, and on until February 24th. visit www.burystedmundsartgallery.org to get more information.
I read in the West Suffolk College bulletin that there is an exhibition of work by the students of Louise Gridley's Adult Education class. This is taking place in The Lounge in Hatter Street, so could make a pleasant venue for a half term cup of coffee.
Also Paul Seymour has some of his work exhibited in the main Library in Bury St. Edmunds.
I am putting together a powerpoint presentation of the work taking place in as many of our classes as I can include. DO PLEASE let me have some photo's so that I can include your class, or let me know what you are doing so that I can come along with my camera and take some pictures. This presentation will be used by the Cont. Ed. Faculty around the Learning Centres to advertise forthcoming classes.
I am planning to arrange a print workshop at West Suffolk College on the next Staff Development Day in May - keep a look out for details and do book up and come along.
Have a good half term break, and do let me know what you are doing in your classes. What plans do you have for the Summer Term? My semi-retired husband is a volunteer at Pakenham Water Mill, www.pakenhamwatermill.co.uk .It would make a splendid venue for an art class, with lots to inspire and interest all artists. There is an Art Workshop weekend planned to take place on April 14th and 15th at the Water Mill. Check out the website for details.
